ITM Power to showcase Fuel Cell Vehicle at FutureBuild 2014
03 November 2014

Sheffield based ITM Power will be showcasing one of the first Hyundai ix35 fuel cell vehicles to arrive in the UK at FutureBuild 2014, a brand new UK conference to be held next week at Sheffield City Hall on 5th-6th November.

The Hyundai ix35 will be parked outside the City Hall on Barkers Pool on both days of the conference and exhibition which focuses on the sustainability of housing, renewable energy and community energy schemes.

The Hyundai ix35 vehicles being rolled out are a result of the pioneering £31m Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles (HyFive) project funded by the Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU) under the EU Framework 7 program. Clusters of hydrogen refuelling stations will support the roll out, three of which are currently being built by ITM Power.

ITM Power manufactures Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser systems for Energy Storage and Clean Fuel production to decarbonise energy and transport. This technology improves air quality and energy security by replacing the need for fossil fuels. The systems manufactured by ITM Power enable surplus renewable electricity to be harnessed by converting electrons into hydrogen (an energy vector) and its subsequent application for dispensing to hydrogen vehicles; renewable heat, via gas mixing and injection into gas networks.

FutureBuild 2014 is being launched as part of the RE-GREEN project, a European sustainability project funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The RE-GREEN project aims to improve regional sustainable policies across Europe with a special focus on greening the building sector.

From top politicians to sustainable energy industry specialists and business entrepreneurs, a range of sessions and networking opportunities to do with sustainable housing, renewable energy and community energy schemes show that FutureBuild 2014 has something for everyone. A policy debate involving key politicians, European representatives, industry specialists and journalists will also be held.
